Select the “Tools” menu and choose “Accounts”

Select the “Add” Button and “News” from the pop-up menu
This bring up the “Internet Connection Wizard”
In “Display Name” type in your name, eg “Fred Flintstone”, click next
Give your email address, click next
NNTP Server is news.bobswart.net
Check the checkbox “My news server requires me to log on”, click next
Account Name is in lower case without the quotes (the account name is
available to members only)
Password is in upper case without the quotes (the password is available
to members only)
Check the checkbox “Remember password”
Ensure the checkbox, using SPA, is unchecked, click next,
Click finish

You’re now back at the main accounts page, you should see an entry called “news.bobswart.net”.
Highlight this and click properties
General Tab
News Account. Change this to give a more meaningful name, mine again says
“Fred Flintstone”
User Information. It is up to yourselves which information you give. It is good
courtesy to provide a name and return email address. (Please remember this is a
private forum so a valid email will not result spamming.)
I would advise that you leave the “Include this account when checking for new
messages” as unchecked, but it makes no real difference.
Server Tab
Ensure that

	Server Name	news.bobswart.net
	This server requires me to log on	Checked
	Account name	********
	Password	********
	Remember password	Checked
	Log on using SPA	Unchecked

Connection Tab
Choose a valid connection or leave it unchecked
Advanced Tab
Ensure that

	News (NNTP)	119
	This server requires SSL	Unchecked
	Server Timeouts	Whatever you like. Mine’s at 30secs.
	Use newsgroup descriptions	Unchecked
	Break apart messages larger than	Unchecked
	Ignore news sending format	Checked
	Select the radio button	"Plain Text"

Click Apply

Note: If you select the first option "All Messages" then it will take a long time to download all the messages on the server. However this is the only way to obtain the complete archive of material that has been posted in the past.
